The most commonly consumed tea in the U.S.A. Black tea is more
oxidized than oolong, green or white teas, all of which come from the
Camellia sinensis plant. It is generally stronger in flavor, and although it
is higher in caffeine than other teas, it still contains less than 1/2 as much
as the same size cup of coffee. Great on ice or hot with milk, sugar, honey
or plain. Research indicates that drinking black tea can aid in the
prevention of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
From the Camellia sinensis plant, these leaves undergo minimal oxidation
during processing, and can contain more caffeine than coffee when dry.
The caffeine content of green tea is greatly reduced once brewed a 2nd &
3rd time. Although this tea originated in China, it is now associated with
many other cultures, including here in the West. Research suggests that
regular consumption of green tea can reduce your risk of cardiovascular
disease and certain types of cancer.
A traditional Chinese tea, coming from the Camellia sinensis plant, it has
a wide range of flavor and caffeine content, due in part to the various
levels of oxidation. Research shows that oolong tea speeds up
metabolism, aids in digestion and weight loss, and helps ease eczema and
psoriasis symptoms.
An old world tea dating back to the Eastern Han Dynasty in China.
Known as the "broad leaf tea", its leaves come from the Camellia sinensis
var. assamica plant. The chemical composition of these leaves are
different from the regular variety, altering the taste and aroma of the
brewed tea. Pu'erh is usually found in a compressed form, such as a tea
cake or brick, and is known for its ability to age well, giving it a darker
color and more mellow flavor. Research shows that pu'erh reduces blood
cholesterol levels and helps with the unpleasant effects of heavy alcohol
consumption.
White teas undergo a process with minimal oxidation, giving them a
mild, delicate flavor. The leaves come from a variety of tea cultivars
found in the Chinese province Fujian. White teas are made up of young
leaves and buds and offer a low caffeine content. Early research indicates
numerous health benefits, including a high EGCG content and immune
system building properties.
Whether single or a blend of herbs, flowers, fruits, seeds & nuts, you won't
find any caffeine in these teas. Herbal teas are an herbal infusion made
from anything except the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Consumed
mainly because of their physical or medicinal effects.
Naturally caffeine free and high in antioxidants and nutrients. This
herb, aspalathus linearis is found only on the Southwest coast of South
Africa and is naturally sweet and calorie free. Shown to help aid in
stomach and digestion disorders, and may help alleviate the symptoms of
psoriasis and colic in young infants. Great hot or on ice.
Blooming Tea Bulbs
Blooming tea bulbs are tea leaves and flowers, sewn together by artisans.
When steeped in a clear, heat resistant pot or glass, these bulbs open up
to reveal an array of beautiful blooming flowers. These blooming teas are
fragrant and aromatic, and can be steeped several times without
becoming bitter. Watch them bloom, then drink the tea! A customer
favorite.
